An ad I ran on thTOAC site for a yello Chambers was answerwd by someone sayibg that they have one in the UK and willing to ship it it me for 1000.00 total (I have only to send a wire transfer - will not take anything else). This immediately smelled fishy to me but I asked a couple of questions that I thought someone who had a Chambers would know - dimensions, I think. The person answered correctly and sent this photo (hope it appears). But can't quite place it - ebay, I think. -it's the string on the service cabinet - is this Yonkers is Bonkers? It is from right around that time.

It is absolutely and totally a scam. Anytime you put your e-mail addr on the Internet with a "For Sale" or "Wanted" ad, you will get this junk.

I agree - it's a scam.

I've seen that yellow 60C with the missing Griddle/Brolier handle somewhere before - probably eBay, but it wasn't located overseas, that's for sure!

Any time you see the words "Wire Transfer" being uttered by someone you are not related to by blood: Run away! Run away screaming! Wire Transfers are not to be used for purchases, they are for wiring money to your runaway daughter so she can take a bus back home.

They are not for sending $4000 to Mr. Idi Amin in Nigeria so that he can send you a fully restored Chambers Imperial plus $45 Million in unclaimed bank funds or lottery winnings. It's all part of the advance fee scam called "419" in the Nigerian penal code.

OK you guys - I could not get that to image - obviously Lori could - I can't see how she got my image and put it up (smart cookie). Please, I used the Lowracer guidelines - imageshack and everything and all I got was the photo icons.

I got my new Blue Stove today (I am feeling almost neener-y - but really, quite pleased). I can't believe I spent that much money and trusted - but I think I did good. The porcelain is about perfect. I am missing a couple of flash tubes and the griddle has a frightening layer of black stuff on it. It also came complete with food remnents of the last decade or two - but all sort of softened with fat so that they scraped down nicely (so far I have only used a putty knife). Her name is Bluebird and I am dying to share pictures if only I could figure this out. I am tempted to send the photo to Lori for doctoring and display. Bluebird will need a chrome job and the top and reporcelaining on the burners etc. The timer is not ticking - any ideas? I really like the timer on the other - I even use it though the stove is not hooked up.

I can't believe what a great color the Blue stoves are - I really thought it was going to be a slighter deeper blue but it is calm and almost subtle.

I wrote the scammer back and told him that my friend who lives in London wants to look at the stove for me.

Phoebe, your only problem was when you pasted the address of the image into the message. This is how it looked after you hit the image button and then pasted in the address: httphttp://img527.imageshack.us/my.php?image=yellochambers6ka.jpg

Notice that the first letters are httphttp: There should only be one http: Once I fixed that, it worked. Try it and see if it works for you. Always try the preview and it will tell yo if it works. If not, I'd be happy to help because I really want to see the pictures. So jealous, a copper and a blue.

Congrats on your new stoves' arrival, Phoebe!! The blue really is beautiful, huh? You should see the green and yellow, too. I find them equally appealing.

As for Miss Robin, she may be a bit rough in some aspects, but her porcelain is almost pristine, and there are no chips anywhere. It makes up for the need to rechrome her top, replace her griddle, etc.. If the porcelain is OK, the rest is fixable, so I'm really pleased with her.

Robin came with a Thermobaker, too, so I'm especially happy.
